Investment Strategy

The investment strategy broadly spans the maritime space with a particular focus on decarbonisation of the maritime sector.

We seek to acquire assets with a superior risk-return balance, capitalizing on market dislocations where applicable.

Dee4 will:

  • Conduct extensive due diligence to ensure the condition of relevant targets is good (age- and cycle -adjusted);
  • Acquire heavily depreciated assets at below ‘newbuilding parity’ valuations (adjusted for depreciation);
  • Acquire fuel-efficient tonnage
  • Focus on opportunities to enhance fuel-efficiency and maintain asset quality when managing the vessels;
  • Obtain only conservative non-recourse gearing, keeping cashflow breakeven levels low;
  • Seek time charters where appropriate and possible, or extend time charters, to maximise visibility of cashflow and returns to investors; and
  • Seek to exit in a rising market, before the peak, targeting 1.5-2.5x money to investors.
  • Fund I focused on the product tanker market, given the attractive supply and demand dynamics, while Fund II will have a broader focus

This requires energy – and also brings opportunities to preserve energy. This is where our fuel conservation programs fits in: 11 measures that actively reduce emissions from our vessels. With all energy consumption being reported into a centralized system, we continuously monitor the results of our efforts. Key to our environmental efforts are our crew members, who are actively engaged every single day.
